Our mission as Church is to do what Jesus did. Scripture relates numerous times of Jesus' concern for the sick. Healing was essential to His ministry as well as that of his disciples. The Church continues to be a sacrament of healing to this day.
The Sacrament of the Sick is intended for all those who are seriously ill. Through this sacrament, we ask for God's healing grace not just from our bodily illness but also from spiritual affliction as well. The Sacrament of the Sick, like the other sacraments, are acts of faith i.e. they grace the whole person - body, soul and spirit. Through this anointing the priest asks the Holy Spirit to "heal and deliver them from every affliction."
Please keep us informed so that we can be attentive to those who are ill at home or in the hospital. Communion is brought upon request to the home. Please call the Rectory for the Sacrament of the Sick. (973-398-6377, Option #3)
